Back to top Céline Bernard, Potter

I started my pottery adventure by takin classes at Pointe-Claire's Cultural Centre in 2002 & 2003. As for many of my hobbies, it took me a while to jump into it.

In 2003, I joined Claycrafters Pottery Club and been a member for 10 years. Thanks to the generosity and patience of many members and some workshops, I have been able to master the basic techniques of pottery making.

Being an engineer, I think in straight lines and my challenge is to leap into curves, abstract and get away from the idea that every piece should be useful!

All my work is in earthenware fired in an electric kiln to cone 6. I make my own glaze (food safe proven recipes), colouring it with oxides, same as for neriage, marble and engobes where I use oxydes to colour my clay, I also use commercial underglazes for decoration.

Thanks for visiting this website. If you are interested by some pieces, feel free to contact me.
